Technical Assessment
Establishing and confirming the reliability and availability of engineered facilities and systems is extremely important in the modern world. Poor performance or loss of integrity reduces operational efficiency and can lead to potential harm to workers and the public if safety margins are degraded.

Whether investigating new designs or existing facilities, NEES has access to a unique knowledge base with our highly experienced consulting engineers and technologists to advise you. Our expertise includes hands-on insight from previous initiatives to determine the acceptability of engineered systems when questioning their operability, reliability, availability, maintainability and overall degree of safety.

We also have specialist capability to review and report on failure prevention and mitigation management, including expert knowledge in the fracture mechanics and structural analysis fields. Allied assessment techniques like FMECA, HAZOP, HAZID and Safety Integrity can be performed for you.

Independent Peer Review of such work is also offered to clients when the significance of loss or harm is considered of great risk and the assessment results must be of high confidence.

We can provide expert witness and judgement in litigation proceedings, as well as having an in-depth analysis capability to determine the cause and effect of particular failure scenarios that may be in question or suspected.

NEES has undertaken a range of technical assessments and engineered system investigations. For instance, the following specific assessments have been performed:
  • Analysis of control and protection system of dockside cranes used for nuclear lifts.
